Joshua & Bernice
Founders of Christian Academy & Lighthouse

Russell Brabec, Secretary, Christian Academy & Lighthouse
Rose Marie Brabec, Treasurer and Registered Agent, Christian Academy & Lighthouse

Rose Marie's interest in helping children started when her parents were foster parents on a dairy farm in the Midwest. Rose Marie has been both an educator, an entrepreneur, and a world traveler. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, her motto has always been, "God 1st, Family 2nd, and Career/Business 3rd." She was a classroom teacher and then wrote a Christian Art curriculum for North Florida Christian School in Tallahassee, Florida where she taught 650 students in 1-12th grades each week. She then joined her husband as Vice President at Design & More Interiors. She was privileged to be invited into a variety of homes and businesses where she gained an appreciation for a diversity of heritage, faiths, and budgets. It also provided for international buying trips while using her artistic talents. In turn, Rose Marie has invited international exchange students into their home for a full year of studies, taught Sunday school classes, and been involved with various community business groups.

Russ has celebrated 48 years of marriage to Rose Marie. He is a father and grandfather, was an art educator at Sioux Fall Christian University and then President of Design & More Interiors for 30 years. Russ gained a keen interest in missions when he went with 11 other men on an Around-the-World-Missions-Tour encouraging missionaries. He traveled to Hawaii, Japan, Thailand, and Burma, Hong Kong, many cities in India, Egypt, several European countries, and England. Russ has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club International. Like Rose Marie, Russ has a heart for children and enjoyed giving a helping hand in several children's Sunday school classes.
